Learn More Job Skills Without the Price Tag of a Course or Private Coach

Try reading a book with a coworker for accountability.

For example, I wanted to learn more about sales and marketing, and I wanted to train my colleague on these topics.

So, we selected a book, read one chapter every two weeks, and talk about it for 30 minutes.

The accountability piece keeps us from falling off, and we can glean better insights by sharing what we took away from each chapter.

Total cost: about $30, plus the time spent on reading and discussing, which has paid for itself several times over in new clients.

Currently, we are reading Same Side Selling, by Jack Quarles and Ian Altman. I’ve landed several amazing clients by applying what I’ve learned in the book.

This accountability concept can also be applied to self-guided courses. Instead of buying a course and never finishing it, you can stay accountable by working through a course with a coworker or group of colleagues.
