How an Attorney Got a $20K Bonus...
Here's a story about Katie.
Katie understood how to bring revenue to her law firm.
She met with other attorneys she liked over coffee, and figured out what their favorite type of client was. She asked them how she could help them with their law practices, and listened to their stories about their lives and struggles. She referred them work when the opportunity arose, and kept referring them work if the feedback was positive. This built up a bank of business goodwill for Katie. This is also called "networking."
If asked, Katie told attorneys what her favorite type of client was, and how she usually helped them. Katie gave specific examples of the type of work her firm does for her favorite clients (tech companies or executives in DC/Maryland/Virginia needing HR help), like severance agreements, noncompete reviews, employee handbooks, and how to terminate an employee without getting sued, or how to exit a company without getting sued.
Once the bank of business goodwill was built up, Katie established herself as a "thought leader" in Virginia employment law. Katie frequently posted on LinkedIn and on her firm's blog about topics her clients would be interested in - severance agreements, noncompetes, employee handbooks, and employment law updates.
I am Katie.
I once got a $20K bonus when I worked at a firm.
Now, I give out bonuses, and take distributions at my own firm.
This is my path to wealth, flexibility, and freedom.
