A Word on Text Messaging

LAWYERS + BUSINESS OWNERS:

Text messaging is a great, convenient technology.

But don't use it as the main way to communicate with your clients about substantive topics.

For written communications, email or your client management software should be used.

Email or client management software provides a consistent place to keep your client records.

Texts also:

-Are less formal, providing more opportunity for confusion for your clients

-Don't provide you with adequate work/life boundaries

-Don't allow you to place an out of office message up when you are on vacation or sick

TLDR: Texts are not conducive to workplace boundaries and don't give your clients the best experience that they deserve.
