Make Mind Blowing Money
Making Mind-Blowing Money...
When I first started in the legal field, I was NOT making mind-blowing money.
My first full-time legal job - in between college and law school - I made $35K per year as a law clerk. I ran things to court, drafted letters to clients, did legal research, and tried to act very seriously. Luckily, I had a great office mate, who was a new lawyer, and he lightened the mood.
My next salaried job was for the Army during law school making $47K per year. I loved working for the government, but it was difficult finding a government job graduating after the Great Recession. Any job would do.
My first attorney job I made $80K per year, I think. It's been awhile. I believe I got a pay raise after I passed the bar. I was working at least 10 hour days, and it was so hard. I barely left my desk, had a killer commute to DC, and was generally miserable.
As I worked my way up the legal ladder, my salary and compensation increased. While it's strange to say, money does not buy happiness. But it does buy:
-Better schools for your children
-Vacations to give you rest and relaxation
-More time off to spend with your family
-Better living conditions and higher quality food
I never envisioned myself as a business owner.
But I have to say, that my decision to start my own business catapulted me to a new level of financial security. If you are interested in learning more about the tools I used to get there, be sure to check out my newsletter. I'll be discussing mindset, confidence, social media skills, personal branding, and all the details soon in a new course for female lawyers.
If you've made it this far, I'm curious: what has contributed to your financial success? What role does money play in your life? Let me know in the comments.
