Into the Ocean Waves

In 2018, I had a 3-year old daughter and was running on fumes. I needed to be able to work from home so I could ditch the commute, the beauty routine, and the interruptions of the office to focus on my business.

I knew that working in a law firm with a billable hour minimum wasn’t sustainable for me. I just wasn’t interested in sitting and watching the clock every two seconds, taking timed lunch breaks, and always feeling like I was under the gun.

I needed the freedom to be creative, to focus on what I felt like focusing on each day, instead of being there to support someone else's vision.

I wanted to be the lead role in the movie that is my life, not just a supporting role.

It was time to step up, fulfill my vision for my life, and hell, if I totally failed, then at least I could lay on my deathbed saying I tried. I could live a life with no regrets. And that’s the thing about entrepreneurship – even if you “fail,” or decide it’s time to hang up your firm owner hat, you still can go back to working for a firm.

Many do, and it feels right for them. But I needed to go out into the ocean, face the crashing waves, and see what was beyond the breakers.
