Habit Stacking

It’s tough to get a new positive habit going.

You are planting a baby seed, watering it, and being faithful.

Sometimes it shoots up, but sometimes it dies on the vine, no matter how consistent you try to be.

One trick I’ve learned recently, learned from James Clear's book, Atomic Habits, is habit stacking.

I take a habit I love, and alternate it with a habit I’m dreading, but know is a good one.

Example: For the past two days, I’ve alternated going through my old notes (not my favorite task) and sitting in my massage chair and reading a book (one of my favorite ways to relax). I do the tedious task for 10 minutes, and the fun task for 10 minutes, with the hopes that my brain will eventually like the tedious task more.

Either way, I’m actually doing the thing I need to do, and also getting a built-in fun break. So far, so good!

Happy habit forming, #lawpracticequeen family!
